A Family Celebration

The event we've all been planning finally took place this weekend. And it was so emotional, beautiful and tasteful that I had to share the details with you. Actually, there were two major events- marriage and the christening. The civil ceremony took place on Saturday, the religious ceremony, the christening and the party on Sunday. Aside from the fact that it's the middle of July and it rained a lot exactly during those two days, everything went completely as planned.

I'm also going to blog about the party, because my cousin always had an eye for detail and I knew her day would be about perfection in every little aspect. When her daughter (my god-daughter) will grow up and see these photos I'm sure she'll say she had the best christening party!

I've been thinking and I think the best way to blog about this is to tell you the story of each outfit I chose to wear for every occasion:

1. Civil ceremony, Saturday - I bought this dress from a factory which was about to close, I paid 12 euros for it and I can't remember the brand because it doesn't have a tag anymore, but it might be French Connection. It was love at first side when I saw that shade of coral! Not to mention the cool cuts at the top! What really makes it the perfect dress for me is the lenght, it's truly the one that makes me feel comfortable.

The nude ballet flats are from Musette and the nude clutch is from Aldo.

2. The Christening and the Religious Ceremony- both being held at Church, I wanted something classy and presentable, and which would also match my pastel bridesmaid bouquet. I went for a nude Orsay nude dress and a Ted Baker golden jacket, with the same Musette flats and Aldo clutch.

There aren't enough words in this world to fully explain how gorgeous this bouquet was in real life!! It honestly felt like I was carrying the most glorious bridal bouquet, I don't know if I'll ever have another one this beautiful.

And now, the part where I spam you with tons of photos: THE PARTY.(Sunday night). For the fashion part, I have to say  I found my DREAM party dress. Just a week before the celebration, I was shopping with my mom, and in the exact store I found her a beautiful fuchsia dress I also found a flawless lace dress from Tara Jarmon. Tara Jarmon is a brand which has always been close to my heart because that's where I got my first grown-up coat back when I was in highschool (a pale pink one). A few reasons I'm in love with my dress (which has gotten so many compliments during the night, I felt like a princess): it is the perfect lenght and shape for my body type! The waist detail: white stripes alternating with transparent material made it look as if I was wearing a nude belt. Also, the tulle skirt made it so easy to twirl and dance: perfect for every dance style, from twist to latino, this dress practically did all the work for me! Also to note, I've never had a lace of such quality before: it's super thick, you can have faith it's not going to tear apart.
Also, the element of surprise: it's backless! And you know how much I love backless dresses and tops!

And now, for the venue: it really helped that the whole place was decorated in pastels and florals because it was perfect for a baby girl christening!

Let me just start with my favorite part: the tables! The bride took care of all the details, because she is really talented in this area! Look at the pink tulle balloons and the small vases with roses! And the way the fruits were there to give a pop of color and those delicious sweets (the cannoli were ordered as a surprise for my mom and I, because you know how obsessed we became with cannoli last summer in Sicily - or you can see what I'm talking about here, here, here and here if you're new on this blog).

The candle we ordered for the christening fitted with the decor marvellously.

The terrace- where the party was supposed to take place, had it not been for the horrible weather. People still went out here, it's the perfect place to cool down after dancing your heart out.

I totally wanted to steal these floral curtains for my home. Damn, I'm such a girly girl!!

The cake tasted just as good as it looked!

Me and my god-daughter, I can't wait for her to see this post one day, she'll know she was the most spoiled princess and that we all love her so much!!

  4. Such cool cutouts on these dresses. The coral is sassy, the beige is classy . . . and both are beautiful! As are the flowers and party decor. Those turquoise roof beams are my favorite -- so striking!
